FLIGHTS
Luxor is the centre of the sightseeing aspect of Egypt . It is a 3rd World city with a very exclusive western clientele and caters for this in the hotels available.
CHARTER FLIGHTS
As such it is very accessible by plane, with the flying time for England being 5 hours.
We have found that the best way to fly into Luxor is with Charter Flight Companies, the only problem with these is that they only fly into Luxor on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Note: do not be put off by prices on a database. You need to try them ALL plus any other links you may find along the way to get a cheap flight.
SCHEDULED FLIGHTS
If you wanted to pick the dates that you arrive and depart, then a scheduled flight into Cairo is the only way. The cheapest carrier by far is KLM out of Amsterdam, with shuttles from London and Manchester.
Periodically, this airline offers a special African deal for £230 return into Cairo.
Add another £100 for the return flight up to Luxor.
The price range you should be looking to pay are :

BAGGAGE ALLOWANCES
The baggage limit on these airlines is 20 kilos per person.
There will be plenty of opportunity for you to buy souvenirs.
If you are planning on returning with a lot of souvenirs, travel light on the way out and allow for extra baggage on the way back.
